Immerse yourself in a full overnight bushcraft experience and discover what it truly means to live outdoors. Spend the day learning essential wilderness skills before settling in for an evening around the campfire. As night falls, enjoy the peace of the woodland, sleep under the stars or in your own shelter, and wake up to the sounds of nature for a truly unforgettable outdoor adventure.

What You'll
Learn

By the end of the session, you’ll have tried:
 

  • Fire Lighting – Safe use of fire steels and natural tinders to build and light a small campfire. Introduction into friction fire using a bow drill.

  • Safe Knife & Tool Use – How to handle and care for knives and saws.

  • Basic Carving Skills - Create tent pegs, feather sticks, pot hangers and mallets.

  • Shelter Building- Erect tarpaulins using simple and useful knots and/or natural shelter building ready for the night ahead. 

  • Outdoor Cooking - Make and cook delicious Bannock bread on the fire 

  • Wild Game Butchery - Learn how to process & prepare wild fresh game for dinner (optional we can also cater for vegetarians). 


All skills are taught step‑by‑step with plenty of time to practice.

Typical Schedule

09:00 – Arrival & Welcome

Meet your instructor at Coed-y-Brenin Visitors Centre, followed by a short walk to base camp 

09:30 - Safety Briefing & Course Overview

09:45 – Safe Knife & Tool Use

How to handle and care for knives and saws

10:15 – Basic Carving Skills

Create tent pegs, feather sticks, pot hangers and mallets

11:45 – Fire Lighting

Safe use of fire steels and natural tinders to build and light a small campfire to cook our Bannock bread

12:30 - Lunch Break

13:00 - Introduction to the Bow Drill

Aim to create an ember with the Bow Drill blowing the ember into flame 

14:00 - Shelter Building

Erect tarpaulins using simple and useful knots and/or natural shelter building ready for the night ahead

17:00 - Wild Game Butchery

Process game birds (de-breasting) and/or fish (filleting) ready for dinner preparations

 

18:00 - Dinner Preperation

Experience outdoor cooking using our handmade pot hangers and our prepared game over an open fire 

19:00 - Enjoy the Evening

Relax around the fire, with camp games and stories

09:00 - Morning Breakfast

Start the morning with a hot beverage and bacon and/or egg butty 

 

09:30 - Pack Up 

Disassemble shelters & pack up equipment and supplies

10:15 – Debrief & Questions

Recap what you’ve learned, ask questions

10:30 - Departure

Return walk back to the visitors centre whilst planning our next adventure.
